From Applied Digital Data System (ADDS) to
Boundless Technologies |
- Founded in 1969 by
scientist from Brookhaven Labs , ADDS grew to be one of the world’s
largest suppliers of general purpose display terminals and
workstations, with an installed base of more than three million
units.
- In 1976 ADDS
introduced the System 70 computer system for small and medium size
business. It was based on the DOS operating
environment.
- In 1979 ADDS
introduced the Multi-Vision system, the first multi-user desktop
computer brought to market.
- In 1980 ADDS became a
wholly owned subsidiary of NCR.
- In 1986 ADDS developed
and started selling the Mentor 2000 System and the PICK operating
system.
- In 1990 ADDS developed
an in house factory management system, called Flexible
Manufacturing, that used the capabilities of the Mentor system and
PICK O/S to create a real time, Just in Time, manufacturing
process. Since implementation of Flexible Manufacturing
Boundless Technologies/ADDS has manufactured terminals, thin clients,
personal computers and X-stations for more than 40 private label
original equipment manufacturers, including IBM, HP, Compaq, AT&T,
and Ultimate.
- In 1991 ADDS was
acquired by AT&T Corporation as part of the NCR deal. By 1992 ADDS was able to move
all
manufacturing of AT&T text terminals from Mexico to Long Island.
- In 1994 AT&T sold ADDS
to SunRiver Data Systems.
- 1994
Boundless Technologies (as SunRiver Data Systems) released one of the first thin clients,
the TC-1, helping to create what is today the thin client market.
- In 1995 IBM decides to
outsource the manufacturing of the IBM 3153 to Boundless
Technologies.
- In 1995 Boundless
purchases Digital Equipment's VT/Dorio line of text terminals and moves all
manufacturing from Taiwan to Long Island.
- In 1996 the company
was renamed Boundless Technologies, Inc.
- In 1996 Boundless
Technologies gets
NEBS certification for the 4000/260 LF for Lucent Technologies.
- In 1997 Boundless
Technologies introduces the Viewpoint line of thin clients.
- In 1998 Boundless
Technologies introduced the Capio line of thin clients.
- In 1999 HP started
purchasing the HP C1099A terminal from the Boundless Technologies' Long
Island facility.
- In
2007 Boundless Technologies released a new line of
customizable thin clients the ADDS 6300, 6700 and 7500 series.
