Will my K-1 application be affected by COVID?

You may have heard that COVID-19 led to delayed K-1 visa processing in many countries. The good news is that U.S. embassies and consulates have now been authorized to prioritize K-1 visas again. Learn the current status of K-1 visa processing by country in our blog post. Please check this page regularly for updates. We’ll continue to update the blog post as we receive new information from immigration agencies.

It is also important to note that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is still accepting and processing Form I-129F (Petition for Alien Fiancé(e)). Even if you’re concerned about possible delays during the second, embassy stage of the K-1 visa process, applicants are encouraged to apply now, in order to jump-start the process.

My partner and I haven’t met in person yet. Can we still apply?

One of the government requirements for the K-1 Fiancé Visa is that the couple has met in person at least once in the last two years at the time of filing. Even if you haven’t met in person yet, there are still several steps you can take to get a head start on the process:

  1. Read up on the requirements: Before applying, you should read up on the K-1 Fiancé Visa process to better understand what is expected of you. A thorough understanding of the government requirements can help avoid delays or common pitfalls when filing. More information on the process can be found here.
  2. Collect proof of relationship: An important aspect of the K-1 visa application is proving to the U.S. government that the relationship is “bona fide”, or legitimate and that the couple intends to marry. Applicants are encouraged to take lots of pictures together, keep receipts and proof of communication, and try to paint a holistic picture of their relationship. If you choose to work with RapidVisa on your K-1 visa application, our highly-trained team will provide you with more helpful examples of relationship evidence when it’s time to file.
  3. Make future travel arrangements: As travel and quarantine restrictions begin to ease, individuals can start making travel arrangements to meet their loved ones. Be sure to check our detailed blog post with the most up-to-date information we have on COVID-19 and country re-openings.

My fiancé and I want to live together in the U.S. but we’re not sure what our options are. Is K-1 the only route we can take?

If you and your fiancé(e) are not married yet, and one of you is living outside of the U.S., you may be wondering what the best immigration path is. For couples in this situation, there are generally two visa options to choose from K-1 Fiancé(e) Visa or CR-1 Spousal Visa. There are pros and cons to each path, with differences in government processing times, overall cost, and more. Check out our comparison chart below to help determine which visa may be right for you.

Visa Timing Cost
K1 11-17 months $2025 total (including green card application) Work/Travel Authorization: Only 3-6 months after filing green card application
CR1 12-18 months $1200 total Work/Travel Authorization: Immediately after arriving in the U.S.

Still not sure which visa is right for you, or feeling overwhelmed by the immigration process? Luckily, RapidVisa and Boundless are here to help with either visa type! Reach out to our customer support team to discuss your options in more detail.

I have legal questions I need answered. Is there a way I can consult with an attorney?

If you have specific legal questions and would like to consult with an immigration attorney before proceeding with RapidVisa or the K-1 visa service, you may be interested in Boundless’ Ask My Attorney (AMA) service. AMA is a subscription service where subscribers pay $24/month to get unlimited 15-minute consultations with Boundless-affiliated independent immigration attorneys. Learn more about Ask My Attorney.

How much does this all cost?

RapidVisa can help you assemble and file your K-1 Fiancé Visa application for $529. This flat rate, which covers your complete application package and personalized support from start to finish, can be paid in full or in monthly installments if you opt for one of our payment plans, which start as low as $99/mo. You can also choose to include the government filing fees in your payment plan.

How do you have a 99.7% success rate?

In order to maintain such a high success rate for our customers, every application that is completed through RapidVisa goes through a rigorous quality assurance process with four different reviews. This includes a thorough review by an experienced RapidVisa Document Review Specialist to catch any common errors or mistakes before you submit your application to the U.S. government.

How do I get started?

Everything that could go wrong while applying for a visa during a pandemic, went wrong. Without the right documents and the corrections made by Rapid Visa, this lengthy process would have been doubled! The interviewer for my husband’s visa even commented on how well organized all his paperwork was. That was not a reflection of me, but Rapid Visa. All people who want to go about this process alone, don’t do it! Pay the fee and do it right the first time. It’ll be well worth it.

The process was easy. They guided us through all the paperwork and documents needed. They have 3 different people check each document package and if there was anything missing they contacted us, and sent them what was needed. They always answered questions promptly, I either called or emailed them. My wife now has her green card.
Gerard and Vilma
The eagle has landed! My husband arrived from Ghana in February. I am over the moon. Thank you for helping me to clearly understand the process. It helped us to avoid a lot of pitfalls.
Also, if you’re reading this review because you’re looking for a company to help you navigate the scary, treacherous waters of the US Fiance Visa process (or even the Green Card and Citizenship process), I absolutely cannot recommend RapidVisa enough!!!! They are an absolutely STELLAR company to work with! This is the third time I have used them, and each time, they have brought my wife and I through the process as smoothly as it could possibly be.
THANK GOD FOR RAPID VISA I am speechless. My fiance & I are so appreciative of Rapid Visa (RV). We were super nervous about our entire petition ordeal but when we hired RV... They simplified everything for us and made our path a little smoother and stress-free. We are forever grateful for them and in about 6 months, our petition was approved. We would not have done it without them. Anna Liza was so patient, kind, and very responsive to my needs. Thank you so much RV for having great passion in our petition!!!
