CANDIDATE
In the context of U.S. immigration, a candidate is a person who is being considered or is eligible for a particular opportunity or position. For example, if you apply for a visa, you become a candidate for that visa; immigration officers will review your application to see if you meet the requirements to receive it. Similarly, in job applications, a candidate is someone being considered for a job position. Being a candidate means you are in a process where others decide if you qualify for a specific goal, opportunity, or status.
