ADMISSION RECORD

In U.S. immigration, an admission record refers to the official documentation and record of an individual’s lawful entry into the United States. This record typically includes information such as the date of entry, port of entry, visa type, duration of stay permitted, and conditions of admission.

The admission record is generated when a noncitizen is inspected and admitted by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer at a port of entry, such as an airport or land border. The record is often documented electronically and can be accessed through Form I-94 (Arrival/Departure Record) online, which details the individual’s entry and authorized stay in the U.S.

The admission record is important for tracking lawful presence, determining the period a person is allowed to remain in the country, and verifying immigration status for various purposes, such as employment, studying, or applying for an extension or adjustment of status.
