I met Hanna Asmussen, co-founder and CEO of Localyze, in February 2024, and immediately realized that we shared the same underlying beliefs about unlocking human potential by navigating immigration complexities through technology. Over the past seven years, Hanna and her team have built an impressive foundation spanning over 200 pathways across Europe, helping some of the world's most well-known companies successfully manage their talent. Eleven days before the acquisition of Localyze was set to close, the Trump Administration issued a proclamation introducing a $100,000 fee for every H-1B visa petition, along with higher wage requirements for H-1B workers. Over the course of the next 48 hours, as HR leaders, immigration attorneys, and foreign national workers alike scrambled to charter a course forward, the Administration and USCIS continued to issue unclear and often conflicting guidance, compounding the chaos and uncertainty. 

Immigration will always be subject to the policy whims of governments. But there is much that the private sector can do to foster predictability and stability in a notoriously unstable sector.
