Majority of Swing State Voters Disapprove of How Biden’s Handling Immigration

A new poll found that 58% of voters in swing states disapprove of how President Biden is handling immigration issues, compared to 32% of respondents who do approve.

The poll, from Democratic polling firm Global Strategy Group, also found that 52% of voters in seven battleground states believe Biden is ignoring the crisis at the southern border, while 50% said the president is ignoring the plight of undocumented immigrants.

Republicans Unveil Sweeping New Immigration Agenda

House Republicans on Monday released a sweeping immigration bill that includes tightening restrictions on asylum seekers, expanding family detention, and increasing penalties for visa overstays.

The 137-page proposal revives a number of Trump-era immigration restrictions and is unlikely to pass in a Democratic-controlled Senate.

Congress Questions Top Official About Migrant Child Labor

Congress questioned a top official this week as part of a governmental investigation into migrant child labor. Robin Dunn Marcos, director of a program tasked with placing migrant children in safe homes, said the program lacks resources to adequately track these children.

The hearings come after a New York Times investigation found that thousands of migrant children are working for companies big and small across the U.S.

Advocacy Groups Issue Travel Warnings For Florida

Two advocacy groups issued travel advisories warning LGBTQ people and immigrants about the risks of traveling to Florida in light of recent “hateful laws” targeting these groups.

The Florida Immigration Coalition said on Wednesday that travel to the state should be taken with “extreme caution as it can be unsafe for people of color, individuals who speak with an accent, and international travelers.”
