2025 Diversity Visa Lottery Registration is Now Open

Online registrations for the 2025 Diversity Visa lottery opened this Wednesday and will remain open until November 7.

Each year, the Diversity Visa program allows randomly selected people from countries that don’t send many immigrants to the United States, and who otherwise wouldn’t have any way to legally immigrate, to obtain green cards. For 2025, 55,000 green cards will be available via the lottery.

Biden Administration Announces Expansion of Border Wall

President Joe Biden has used executive power to waive 26 federal laws in South Texas, enabling the construction of additional border barriers, a strategy reminiscent of the Trump era. This move, focused on Starr County, is driven by a surge in illegal entries in the region, with plans for around 20 miles of additional barrier in a challenging, erosive landscape.

U.S.-Mexico Border Crossings Reach Yearly High in September

More than 200,000 migrants crossed the U.S.-Mexico border unlawfully in September, marking the highest level of crossings recorded in 2023.

Despite persistent efforts by the Biden administration to reduce mass migration at the southern border, unlawful border entries have been on the rise in recent years.

Green Card Processing Change Leaves Religious Workers in Limbo

A recent procedural change in green card processing could jeopardize the ability of thousands of foreign-born religious leaders to remain in the U.S.

The change comes at a time when demand for faith leaders who speak multiple languages and can serve immigrant communities in the U.S. is at an all-time high.

Immigrants Comprise 40% of U.S. Nobel Prize Winners Since 2000

Since 2000, immigrants have won 40% of the Nobel Prizes awarded to Americans, according to a study from nonprofit the National Foundation for American Policy (NFAP).

This percentage has remained relatively consistent throughout the history of the Nobel Prize. In 2023, immigrants made up four out of the six U.S. Nobel Prize winners in the fields of medicine, chemistry, and physics.
