Yuan Concerns Impact Chinese Immigrants in the U.S.

In recent days, the Chinese yuan has hit a 10-month low, reaching a value of 7.3 yuan to the U.S. dollar. This decline, similar to the levels observed during the global financial crisis in 2008, has raised concerns among some Chinese immigrants who have recently settled in the U.S.

Economists expect the yuan will continue to depreciate, weakening the buying power of immigrants who rely heavily on the currency, such as Chinese students pursuing their education in the U.S.

Biden Administration Encourages Migrants to Apply for Work Permits

The Biden administration has launched a national campaign to encourage all eligible migrants to apply for work permits as soon as possible.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will now send regular email and text reminders to migrants who are eligible for work authorization in the U.S. but have not yet applied. This includes asylum seekers and anyone who entered the country under one of Biden’s humanitarian parole programs.

The report claims federal agencies at the time waived environmental laws to expedite construction, blasting at tribal burial sites, and altering the area’s water flows.
